Paisley shawls were a fashionable item of women's clothing in the 19th century made of intricately woven and delicate wool. Although known as the Paisley pattern the teardrop motif originated from Kashmir it became popular across Europe and Britain.

Reversible feature as the design is double sided creating a look of two different shawls in two different colours.

This Paisley shawl displays extensive boteh foliage in each border. Arabesque designed field predominately in burgundy and wine tones. red ground. Also displays elongated floral boteh with a narrow border followed by fringe elements on both sides.

The shawl has a Ruby jewel like colour palette that remains vivid despite age and usage.
