Ottmar Hörl studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and with Klaus Rinke at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. Since 1999 he has been a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. The German conceptual artist works with diverse forms of expression and became internationally known for his temporary large-scale projects with serially produced sculptures in public spaces. For Ottmar Hörl, art is an organising principle and an occasion for communication, it should provide food for thought and have an impact on society.
