"A work composed of course in the moment of shock following the attack on Louvel, it is characteristic of the literature of deplorability typical of the Restoration, and moreover it attests to a beautiful piece of bravery, as it took imagination or exaltation (or both) to find admirable features in the life of the Duke de Berry."
