Original edition and first print of this very beautiful gallery Des Maréchaux D’Empire.

Composed of 41/42 portraits engraved on steel according to the original paintings, each is accompanied by the service record “which until now hadn’t been published”.

Exemplary as appeared at the time in deliveries under a port-folio in half morocco, back decorated with a romantic decoration with flowers, the first dish decorated with the imperial eagle struck in gold.

Includes 41 portraits under serpente accompanied by the state of service on double page in a frame engraved on wood.
Presents itself without a title page and is missing the last portrait N42 (Count Valée), Complete of the sheet of Gavard's warning and the table.

Beautiful prints on strong vellum paper.

Opens with the portrait of Napoleon “Lieutenant - colonel in the 1st battalion of Corsica in 1792” after Amédée Faure, followed by Murat, Jourdan, Massena, Bernadotte, etc.

Engravings after Faure, Baron Gérard, Le Gros, Casanova etc.

Rare in such beautiful condition of freshness, practically without foxing, a barely perceptible wetness in the margin of the first three deliveries. Solid port-folio, leather a little exposed as well as the plates (see photos).

One quarto volume with 40/42 portraits (missing 2 plates)

Romantic period half leather binding, smooth spine adorned with the title in gold and blind-stamping.

Sturdy volume, damaged binding with significant restorations, amateurish, on the headcaps and corners. Interior in good condition as a whole, light damp stain at the beginning and the end mainly in the margins. Hinge is split on the endpapers and on the double sheet of the service record, especially from Napoleon to Jourdan and Valée at the end. Sold as is.
