Parfums Caron was founded in 1904 by Ernest Daltroff (1867-1941), who chose a short name that is easy to remember and can be pronounced in several languages while being associated with France. The House is located at 10 rue de la Paix in Paris.
In 1906, Ernest Daltroff met Félicie Wanpouille (1874-1967), a young milliner who also worked on rue de la Paix. She introduced him to her clientele and then became her partner and muse. This was the beginning of an essential collaboration for Caron perfumes, he created the perfumes, she created the bottles.
The perfumes and powders are first distributed in metropolitan France through a network of exclusive Parisian department stores, as well as in Morocco and in the major cities of Algeria. The trademark rights were registered in Bern in 1913 and extended to the Republic of Cuba (1902- 1959). From 1923, Caron established itself on the American market.
