THEME Nicolas Flamel is a historical figure. He lived in France in the 14th century and is supposed to have discovered how to make a philosopher's stone. The Philosopher's Stone is able to extend indefinitely the life span of those who use it, it is an object capable of transforming metal into gold and granting immortality with its elixir of life. Reverse CONCEPTION - in the central triangular/square/round geometrical structure - is a reference to the mythical alchemist in search of the legendary stone of the Philosophers. Top - portrait of the large Alchemist, best known for his manuscript on the subject of the Philosophers' Stone. In the design of the piece we can also find symbols and magical animals like a dragon, a lion, a bull and a mythical Uroboros snake. The triangular structure is surrounded by the astronomical symbol of the day and night sky. obverse- portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the centre of the design, surrounded by magical symbols of the basic elements - water and stars/air.
