Phra means ‘monk’ or amulet, and Pidta means ‘closed eyes’. The image of this figure hiding its face with the palms would be, for some, a symbolic image of Maha Thera Sanghajay in the traditional Sammabart meditation.
By closing his eyes, he is not exposed to the evil surrounding it. Neither does one worry about evil and its misdeeds. Therefore, one does not indulge in rumours, profanity, wrongdoing and any type of crime. We remain safe from the infamous acts and thus, protected from all sorts of apprehensions and misfortunes in consequence.
Phra Pidta is known for bringing fortune. It is also known that it protects from evil.
Pictures taken in daylight.
