[Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), Emperor]
Very scarce document signed "Buonaparte" (secretaire), dated September 1793, during the Siege of Toulon, which was Bonaparte's first claim to fame.
This document is about travel expenses from two people's representants who were sent to the South of France to help with defending the city against English soldiers. All details are written concerning the travels, from July to September 1793.
The document is signed "Buonaparte" by Jean-Jacques GASSENDI, who was Buonaparte's former commandant under the French Revolution, as Buonaparte was only a lieutenant. They became friends and Buonaparte wanted him for the Siege of Toulon, where he has an important role.
Documents from this period of Bonaparte's saga are very rare!
