Remarkable ochre full morocco binding, three Liquidambar leaves covered with a black silk film glued on the openwork covers. Smooth spine adorned with title, author and illustrator in azure letters. Gilded top edge. Light blue felt endpapers and flyleaves. In a half morocco folder with strips, embellished with a motif of leaf sequins glued onto cream-coloured silk. All in an ochre morocco leather-lined slipcase with similar decoration. Superb workmanship, nicely produced by the bookbinder (the binding is unsigned).
A lovely edition, illustrated with 20 original etchings by Marianne Clouzot (including a frontispiece and 19 large in text images) and 30 woodcut compositions by Gérard Angiolini (including one on the cover, a title vignette, 15 ornamental letters and 13 culs-de-lampe).
Limited edition of 775 numbered copies. This is one of the 675 copies on Lana vellum paper, numbered 76 to 750, this is the No. 741.
Binding in perfect condition. Impeccable inside, uncropped pages. Very clean folder and slipcase. To be noted is a crack along the front joint of the folder, on the inside, not visible on the outside (nothing serious). A very nice copy.
