Wonderful pair of porcelain gentleman and lady companion figures, each modelled standing holding a basket of grapes, polychrome and gilt decoration, and pseudo puce Derby marks.
Dated to the 19th century. Produced by Samson, Edmé et Cie of Paris, figurines such as these bear pseudo puce marks as Samson began his career by making service and set piece replacements in the late 1830s. At this point in their early history, before Samson became a name in and of itself, such reproductions were their top-of-the-line goods.

Lady 24 cm in height
