In the mid-fifties, a team around the engineer Philipp Kurth began developing a wristwatch that is as robust as possible. After countless experiments, the construction concept of the DS models was discovered. DS stands for "double security". It was achieved by "freely" attaching the entire movement to the case with the help of an elastic shock absorbing ring in addition to the conventional shock protection (Incabloc). Moreover, there was an air gap between dial and case. The movement could therefore move in all directions. Other characteristics were additional seals, an extra thick and armoured Plexiglas as well as a reinforced case back.

Despite the classic shape with the Bombay strap lugs, the watch was very robust. It withheld shocks up to six metres and was water resistant up to 200 metres. The first pieces on the market in 1959 had dauphine hands and the movement was the calibre 25-45.
This watch also has a case back with the well-known turtle mark! Rare
