A rare Elzevirian edition of this text containing the correspondence and discourses by Dominique Baudier (1561-1613), a French neo-Latin professor, theologian, diplomat, lawyer and poet. The first Elzevirian edition seems to have been published in 1654 according to the oldest copies found on Worldcat.

Complete of the lovely frontispiece engraving on the title page and the out of text portrait of the author.

Containing 54 letters, addressed to Philippo Huralto Cheverino, Ianus Dousa, Erico Dimmero, Iosephus Scaliger, ... followed by discourses on the Panegyrics by Pliny the Younger, on Queen Elizabeth of England, the kingdom of England, etc.

Copy preserved in its period vellum binding with overlay. Handwritten title on the spine. A sound volume, the vellum is blackened and there is an angular lack on the front cover (see photos). Fresh inside, free of foxing. Copy from the 17th century, well preserved.

Provenance: from the library of Carl of Roden (bookplate).
