Famous and sought-after work of political economy by Jacques Necker (1732-1804), then former minister of finance of Louis XVI. After being forced to resign in 1781 from his post as controller of finances, having been discredited by his opponents in the eyes of the king, Necker drew up this famous treatise which met with enormous popular success as soon as it was published.
A fundamental book for its vast outlook and its demonstrations, it is also a direct criticism of Calonne and his administration.
