Spain - Isabel II 1833–1868. 4 Escudos struck in Madrid in the year 1866. Rare. Gold.

Obverse: ‘ISABEL 2ª POR LA G. DE DIOS Y DE LA CONSTITUCION’ (Isabel II by the grace of God and the Constitution).
Laureate and draping bust facing left.

Reverse: complete Coat of Royal Arms of Carlos III, maintained by Carlos IV and then recovered by Fernando VII when the Bourbon dynasty was reinstated in 1813. His daughter, Isabel II, inherited said coat of arms, which bears the royal crown and in whose quadrants alternate the arms of Castile and Leon, with those of Granada at the top and a central gusset containing the Bourbon fleurs-de-lis surrounded by the necklaces of the Order of the Golden Fleece and the Order of Carlos III.
The mint mark is differentiated by stars with different numbers of points.
Legend: ‘Reina de las Españas’ (Queen of Spain) and the face value ‘4 Escudos’.

* Edge: striated.

Condition: EF/XF–almost UNC.
