'Lisette' (2015 - ongoing) is a collaboration between conceptual performance artist Lisette Ros and photographer Marieke Gras. The series unites person and artist Lisette Ros and plays with authorship between model and artist.
The polaroids taken by Marieke Gras during Ros' 'My Self, the (First) Breath' performance are fragile evidence of a time display and tender testimonies of this - sometimes exhausting - quest; as if an outsider's gaze could help reveal Ros' persona and fix her image through the glossy surface of the photo.
The journey that the polaroids have been through from the moment they are taken is an impressive one: from developer to exhibition at home and abroad; decay is adding value. The essence of the Polaroid as a means coincides beautifully with that, because the further development of the image never stops. The polaroid as an analog language will always be liquid. The process is the work.
