The first edition of this design was published in 1887. The current print is from an early edition.
The measurements of the image itself (excluding the margins) are 32.8 x 22.4 cm.
Publisher: Akiyama Buemon
Yoshitoshi Tsukioka (1839 - 1892) was a Japanese printmaker. Yoshitoshi has widely been recognized as the last great master of the ukiyo-e genre of woodblock printing and painting. He is also regarded as one of the form's greatest innovators.
The print is in fair state. There are losses in the image, mainly around the margin, and soiling and a few spots, and the colors have faded somewhat. The margins have partly been trimmed, the print is backed, and remnants of a previous mounting remain. There are notes in pencil on the back.
Will be shipped with great care in sturdy packaging to prevent folding.
