Description:
This is a charming Negoro-style (根来塗) tea container shaped like a small gourd. The piece features the classic warm vermilion-red lacquer, with soft tonal variations that give it a natural, hand-rubbed appearance typical of Negoro ware. The surface shows gentle wear and faint darker streaks, adding character and the feeling of long, appreciative use.
The body is sculpted into vertical melon-like ribs, creating an organic pumpkin/gourd form (瓜形). The lid is slightly domed with a small knob, and its lacquer has a smooth, glossy finish that harmonizes with the body. The overall silhouette is round, warm, and friendly—very traditional in tea ceremony aesthetics.
