He started painting very young and made his first spray-painted graffiti at the age of 12 on subway trains of line 6, near his uncle’s garage in the Bronx. He chose the name “Seen” because he liked the symmetry of the letters and the idea of being visible to everyone. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Seen became one of the leading figures of the underground graffiti scene. His “whole car” paintings on New York subway trains became legendary, making his work visible to hundreds of thousands of people every day. His distinctive lettering, creativity and energy made him a pioneer of the graffiti movement. In 1981, he exhibited alongside Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat at the iconic “New York, New Wave” exhibition at PS1 in New York. In 1982, the documentary “Style Wars” by Tony Silver and Henry Chalfant made him a global icon of graffiti culture. Seen’s artworks have since been shown around the world, including group shows with Banksy, Shepard Fairey (Obey Giant), JonOne, and many others. He was also featured in the 2019 museum exhibition “Conquête Urbaine” at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Calais, France. In 2012, his painting Superman Who (2009) sold for $96,000, setting a world record for graffiti art at that time. Today, Seen remains a major figure in contemporary urban art, collected by institutions and private collectors worldwide. ABOUT THIS WORK This vibrant original hand-painted canvas (1/1) belongs to the artist’s “Multi Tags” series. Acquired directly from Seen’s studio, it features the artist’s iconic layered tags and dynamic composition, painted in a rare color combination. A unique opportunity to own a piece of graffiti history and an excellent investment as Seen’s market continues to rise. This artwork will particularly appeal to collectors of Banksy, KAWS, JonOne, Shepard Fairey, Invader, D*Face, Blek le Rat, Vhils, Mr. Brainwash, Futura 2000 and other leading names of the international street art movement. __________________________FR_________________________________________________ SEEN (Richard Mirando) – "Multi Tags Series" – 2025 – Peinture originale sur toile Œuvre originale du légendaire artiste graffiti SEEN (Richard Mirando, né en 1961 dans le Bronx, New York), reconnu dans le monde entier comme le parrain du graffiti.
