This set of English dining chairs are a excellent example of the Georgian/Regency period. They are original antiques NOT reproduction. They have saber sculpted legs which is a hallmark of Regency chair design, inspired by classical Greek and Egyptian influences. The mid-rail is scrolled and carved. The decorative central splat—with its spiral “rosette” motif and flowing curves is typical of late Georgian/early Regency taste. They have a shaped top rail. The broad, gently curved, tablet-style crest rail is consistent with Regency dining chairs. The seat pads have horsehair filling and webbing to the base with calico cover. The upholstery has been removed in readiness for new upholstery.
