Wooden ice box from the 1920s/30s, with an upper door. Once it was filled with ice blocks. The inner sides are zinc-plated. The hinges and the handles are the original ones.
In the mid-20th century, the fridge was made of wood, and was a luxury asset.
The outer structure was similar to that of the current standard models: the refrigerator was in the lower part, the freezer in the upper one. The freezer was a simple compartment filled with ice which allowed the food in the part below to remain cool. This lower part was usually divided into two or three compartments.
