Karapet Harutyunyan/Arutiunian (1955), better known as Karó, was born in Gyumri (Armenia) in 1955. He lives in Bilbao since 1990.
China, the former USSR and Germany are some of the countries where he has exhibited his paintings. He arrived in Spain in the late 1980s for the exhibition 50 Años de Arte Soviético, which could be seen in Barcelona, Madrid and Vitoria.
In 1990 he arrived in Bilbao. The former Art International Gallery hosted an individual exhibition about him, which was later immortalized in a book. Religious motifs and colour dominated in his paintings.
In his youth, he was one of the most prominent Soviet artists.
