Dubonnet 16º is not Vermotuh. It's a fortified wine infused with herbs and a small quantity of quinine - Bottled with natural cork.
Even if it was traditionally produced in France, a small quantity was vinified in Spain, only in the early '50s, due to the high quality of the herbs used for the natural infusions and macerations. These herbs were the secret of the Banus Distillery (Pernod Absinthe 68º) and the Carthusians Distillery (Green and Yellow Chartreuse), both in Tarragona. Vinified from Grenache and Carignan grape varieties, mainly from Priorat wine region. Both musts were mixed with white wines (called base wines) selected for their qualities (neutral, dry, low in acidity) to enrich the blend.
These 6 bottles are part of an extremely rare limited edition of the classic Aperitif "Dubonnet 16º" produced in Vilafranca del Penedes (South Barcelona) near to Pernod and Chartreuse distilleries. The Dubonnet 16º was the top Aperitif produced by CDC Dubonnet: bottled with natural cork, aged for 12 to 24 months in oak barrels, all wines used from the same yeat (no vintage blending).
