Biombo Byōbu - Um biombo de seis painéis com cenas de vida diária, paisagens sazonais (屏風). - Signed - Japão - Período Edo (século XIX)

A six-panel screen decorated with a ground of raised gold leaf, applied to simulate clouds that divide the various polychrome painted scenes. Within the reserves unfold episodes of daily life, featuring nobles, samurai, and female figures, alongside domestic moments and scenes of entertainment. Among the settings, seasonal landscapes can be recognized, such as the winter scene at the lower left, and, on the left side, the depiction of a tiger, symbol of strength and protection. Signed at the lower left. The panels are surrounded by two splendid silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen. The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider. Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings. --- The byobu is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age. Some visible stains throughout the surface and retouching of the gold leaf are present, as well as small color retouching along the surface. Please refer to the pictures for further details. The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy. 315
