The Photo Image 2, published by Shashin Hyoronsha in 1969, was published by Shinya Yoshimura, a classmate of Eikoh Hosoe and known for his work on Daido Moriyama's "Goodbye Photography." It was published as a representative photography magazine of the 1970s, co-edited by Koshio Kuwabara, who was primarily a critic at the time but would later become famous as a photographer, and Mitsuko Sasatani, who also served as an editor for Camera Mainichi. It ran for 10 issues. This issue features three photographers: Masahisa Fukase (work "Animal"), Shomei Tomatsu (work "School Desolation"), and Ei Q (posthumous collection of works "Photo Dessin"), all of whom are introduced with abundant illustrations.
