Indian Altar in rosewood, unique because of its size (height of 63 cm), the quality of its craftsmanship and its preservation despite its age. It bears the traces of its first use within a domestic Hindu temple (Devghar): a general brown patina, marks of burns due to oil and incense lamps (pujas).
The altar consists in a base placed on four feet of the “bajot” type, carved with four little columns, supporting a rectangular roof forming a plate carved with cornices. The set of little columns is connected to three stylised arches.
The button of the drawer, as well as the four decorations on the roof, are not original. A few cracks due to its age and use.
THE HINDU STATUETTES ARE NOT PART OF THE SALE (ONLY THE ALTAR IS FOR SALE).
