In 122 AD he started the construction of a new wall that would 'separate the barbarians from the Romans' in Britain. NIKE, the Greek goddess of victory embodied triumph in both war and competition. She was often shown with wings, a laurel wreath or a palm branch; symbols of glory and success. In Roman culture she was worshipped as Victoria, the divine power who granted military success and everlasting fame. Roman generals dedicated temples and altars to her, and her image was a favourite design on coins, celebrating victories across the Roman Empire.
