Brutalist-style interior vase from the Bark series. The vase is an outstanding example of Scandinavian design from the Modernist era. The piece features Schegren’s characteristic ‘ice’ or ‘bark’ texture (Ice/Bark Textured), created by casting in special moulds. The vase’s exterior mimics rough tree bark or frozen ice, creating an incredible play of light and depth of colour, particularly under directional lighting. Christer Sjögren was a master of the Brutalist style in glass, and his Bark series for the Lindshammar glassworks is a perfect illustration of this. Krister Schegren was Lindshammar’s chief designer from 1963 and revolutionised the field by combining architectural rigour of form with organic, natural textures. Height: 29 cm.
