'Hsun It' box used for bringing offerings to monasteries during important ceremonies such as the novitiate, for example.
This box, made of carved and turned wood, was lacquered and then gilded with gold leaf. It is inlaid with coloured glass pieces, using a technique characteristic of the Mandalay region (Burma).
Purchased from Bagan in the early 2000s.
Circa mid-20th century.
A beautiful and very decorative object, 58 cm high.
It is in fairly good condition but it bears age and use marks, the wood distorted itself and the two elements no longer fit perfectly together, see pictures. The stand is stable and strong
It will be packaged with care and shipped with insurance and track & trace.
