In 2016, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when he rose to prominence as a folk singer-songwriter with compositions such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall," which featured significant social protest themes. After leaving folk music behind, Dylan transformed popular music in 1965 with the album Bringing It All Back Home and later Highway 61 Revisited, one of the most influential musical works of the 20th century, in which he combined rock music with complex and literary compositions influenced by surrealist imagery. His first single, "Like a Rolling Stone," was chosen as the greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone magazine and reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
