A Classic Veracruz Terracotta Anthropomorphic Figure, 6th to 10th Century A.D.

Large and finely modelled terracotta figure in the Classic Veracruz style, depicting a standing personage or deity with an impressive, multi-layered headdress, expressive facial features, earspools, and detailed body ornamentation. The piece shows excellent sculptural quality with applied and incised decoration, and retains a rich reddish-brown slip with attractive natural patina and encrustation.
Figures of this type are characteristic of the Classic period in the Veracruz region (Gulf Coast of Mexico) and were commonly used as ritual or funerary offerings, reflecting the refined artistic tradition of the culture.
