Ancient Roman Imperial Bronze Legionary Ring – 1st–3rd Century A.D. – Top Condition

An ancient Roman Imperial bronze legionary ring, dating to approximately the 1st–3rd century A.D.

The ring features a small raised bezel engraved with an “X”, traditionally interpreted as a possible reference to Legio X, one of the most renowned Roman legions. Such simple incised marks are characteristic of utilitarian military rings of the Imperial period.

The ring has preserved a particularly attractive original reddish-brown patina, with areas of natural green mineral encrustation consistent with long-term burial. The warm coppery tones visible across the surface indicate stable ancient oxidation rather than modern cleaning. The interior of the band also shows consistent age-related surface development.

The form, weight, and engraved bezel are in line with documented Roman military and civilian rings of the early Imperial period.
