Collection of 3 Post Medieval Spearheads and Sword Pommel
16th-17th century A.D.
Forged iron spearhead dating to the 16th–17th century. The piece features a long, narrow blade with a tapering point, broad shoulders, and a cylindrical socket for mounting onto a wooden shaft. Hand-forged construction is clearly visible throughout, with pronounced hammering marks and irregular shaping characteristic of period military and hunting weapons. The spearhead retains an attractive dark, excavated patina with heavy age corrosion and mineralisation consistent with centuries of burial. Despite surface wear, the overall form remains well preserved and identifiable. Weapons of this type were widely used across Europe during the late medieval and early modern periods for infantry combat, guard weapons, and hunting applications. Length 28.3 cm.
A forged iron spearhead dating to the 16th century, with a compact socketed shaft and a sharply tapering triangular blade with a pronounced central rib. The blade narrows to a pointed tip and the cylindrical socket was made for mounting onto a wooden haft. Its compact proportions suggest use as a light thrusting or hunting weapon. The spearhead is in excavated condition, with age-related surface corrosion, pitting, and mineral deposits, yet retaining a clear and strong martial form. Length 16.1 cm.
A 17th-century iron sword pommel, probably from a rapier or campaign sword, of rounded globular form. The piece would have served as the counterweight at the end of the grip, balancing the weapon and securing the hilt assembly. The pommel is in excavated condition, with age-related corrosion, surface pitting, and encrustation, yet retaining its compact, rounded shape and recognisable form. Height 3.2 cm.
