Late 19th Century Richelieu table linen with L.C. initials. - Textile - 240 cm - 160 cm This is a late 19th Century table linen and used for high teas in France. For the late 19th C .it has an exceptional length of 240 as the tables were short and particularly for serving teas. It has alternate Richelieu open cut work squares and double mesh squares, vertically and horizontally. The rectangular piece is framed with garlands of flowers and leaves. In each corner is further Richelieu work. In 2 corners of the rectangular piece are the L.C. initials. embroidered in high relief. The piece is framed with festooned scallops and adjacent are small medallions also embroidered in high relief. Considering its age the piece is in excellent condition. PLEASE NOTE. The napkins are not included and were sold in the previous auction. Also note there a few tiny threads in the double mesh squares which have become detached.
