When I say this table linen is rare, by that I mean two fold in that it is virtually new and dating back to approx. 2025, and also it is damask, but woven in cotton which in the early 20th Century as rare as it would normally be woven in linen. The design is fruit with cherries and pomegranates ( in those days a very luxurious and particularly expensive delicacy . The dimension of 2m50 is also somewhat rare as tables for the average French families were maximum 2 meters long. Hence my feeling is that this table linen was woven for the better off French family who often had tables up to 4 or even 5 meter long for hunting dinners etc. The napkins are NOT included and are in the same auction.
