A very fine ancient Roman Gordian III silver antoninianus. The obverse presents the radiated and draped bust of Gordian III facing right, surrounded by the legend IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG. The reverse features the legend P M TR P III COS II P P, with Gordian III standing right in military attire, holding spear in his right hand and globe in his left. Minted in Rome, AD 241.
