Offered for auction is an unusual and rather rare Dutch Vrijwillige Burgerwacht (brassard) armband. The Dutch Civil Guard was formed in 1918 to combat "revolutionary unrest." The Dutch authorities were deeply shocked by the Russian Revolution and the uprisings in Germany and Austria. Citizens in the uniforms of the Voluntary Civil Guard practiced weapon handling. The local associations were united in the Dutch Association of Voluntary Civil Guards, which was disbanded in 1940 by the German occupying forces during World War II and never re-established. See attached screenshot of a museum collection featuring the same brassard. For clarity: this example for sale is NOT the brassard from that page! The NBS and related resistance organisations also wore such brassards in 1944/1945. It certainly has some age to it. Doesnt glow under UV light, i.e., not modern made.
Nice 100% original item from WW2, would make a great display piece!
