Alfa Romeo 1750 first series America model 10551 from 1969, low pedal, produced in only 787 units for the American market.
It was therefore equipped with a Spica mechanical fuel injection system (still available if you want to restore the car to its original state), which is not fitted to the car for sale because the engine had several performance problems, especially at low revs.
The America series also gave rise to the legendary GTAM (created to replace the GTA in competition), which won almost every competition it entered between 1969 and 1971 with official AUTODELTA cars, so much so that it has the identical chassis and model number.
The car was exported from the USA to Sweden in 2014 by a Swedish enthusiast, who carried out a full mechanical and body restoration and re-registered it.
During the complete mechanical restoration, the engine was tuned to reach a power of 190 hp, the set-up was improved, two twin-body 42 carburettors were fitted, the differential was overhauled, the braking system was improved, the distribution system was upgraded with racing camshafts and larger valves, an electronic distributor was fitted, engine lubrication was improved and a sports air filter was fitted.
All with the aim of achieving performance similar to the GTAM racing car.
The upholstery has been completely redone, retaining the same seats but covering them with black Skai instead of the original boar-coloured Skai.
The original Bakelite dashboard and steering wheel were also restored, as were the windows, lights and side mirrors.
Excellent underbody; new silencer, oil pan protection grille.
The restoration by the Swedish owner was carried out in 2014.
It was purchased and imported from Sweden in 2019 and has been re-registered in Italy.
The current owner has carried out a further restoration, which was completed a few days ago, with a new exterior paintwork, restoration of some original components and complete overhaul of carburation, distribution and various electrical components.
It is waiting to be registered with the ASI and then to be serviced by the Italian Motor Vehicle Authority.
