Stunning dome filled with 3 Morpho butterflies.
3 x Morpho Menelaus, a butterfly from the Nymphalidae family. The scientific name of the species was officially published for the first time by Carl Heinrich Hopffer in 1874.
The dome has designer tag: Robert Mars 2019 (see photos)
The butterfly’s blue colour is not caused by pigmentation but is due to the microscopic structure of the wings, and is therefore a structural colour. The colour changes with the angle of observation, and the intensity increases strongly with direct light. The butterfly has a wingspan of between 100 and 120 mm.
