Viet Ha Tran - Xian: Myths of the Beauties, Wang Zhaojun
Artwork created in 2015. The whole planning process for this fashion shooting took our team 9 months, all costumes were bought from Hong Kong and sent to Madrid for the photo session.
From the series "Xian: Myths of the Beauties" that I created in 2015 about the Four Ancient Beauties of China. The series explores the legendary figures of Diao Chan, Yang Guifei, Wang Zhaojun, and Xishi, known for their captivating beauty and influence on history. It combines photography with digital manipulation, collage, and painting textures to create unique art pieces.
Wang Zhaojun was known as one of the Four Beauties of ancient China. She was known as a Selfless Beauty Who Brought Peace to Two Nations. Some historians consider her to be equal to those of the Han Dynasty’s greatest generals thanks to her contribution to create peace between two nations for more than 60 years. She was a woman with a broad mind and a great sense of learning, as well as high morality. For these reasons, she has been respected generation after generation and is regarded as one of the Four Great Beauties.
The photographs from this series "Xian: Myths of the Beauties" participated in my solo exhibition at Medinaceli Museum, Ducal Palace of Medinaceli, Spain during November 2021. Over 30 photographs that Viet Ha Tran created during 2013 - 2021 were exhibited on this occasion. The Medinaceli Museum dedicated to cultural exhibitions was inaugurated inside Palacio Ducal de Medinaceli in 2008. The Palace was declared Spanish National Asset of Cultural Interest in 1979.
