賣家描述
Rosenthal Porcelain Bowl – Laura Fiume Design, Germany, 1990s
This vibrant porcelain bowl by Laura Fiume for Rosenthal Studio-Line is a striking example of 1990s postmodern design, merging Italian artistic flair with German precision. Produced in satin-finished porcelain, its sharply geometric silhouette and vivid, abstract pattern make it a collector’s piece emblematic of the decade’s bold aesthetic.
Laura Fiume, an Italian painter and designer born in Milan in 1953, is celebrated for her colourful, graphic compositions that bridge fine art and design. Collaborating with Rosenthal during the 1980s-1990s, she brought a distinctly Mediterranean exuberance to the brand’s otherwise minimalist tradition. Her works for the Studio-Line series reinterpret classical forms through vibrant pattern, rhythm, and humour.
This bowl exemplifies her style: an expressive combination of bright yellow, coral, mint green, and blue, rendered in rhythmic geometric motifs across a sculptural form with pointed, zigzag contours. The design reflects the influence of the Memphis Group, whose radical, joyful approach to form and colour reshaped European design in the 1980s.
Founded in 1879, Rosenthal has long been synonymous with innovation and artistic collaboration. Through its Studio-Line, launched in the 1960s, the manufacturer invited renowned artists such as Fiume, Dorothy Hafner, and Tapio Wirkkala to create avant-garde porcelain that blurred the boundaries between art, design, and utility.
Dimensions: Height 8 cm, Width 25 cm, Depth 25 cm
Material: Satin-finished porcelain
Colour: Multicolour geometric decoration on white ground
Condition: Very good vintage condition all in all, with minimal wear consistent with age - see close-up photos nr. 8+9 of two corners, where we found a minor chip on the bottom side (so hardly noticeable when standing)
A rare and visually captivating piece, this bowl embodies the meeting of Italian postmodern energy and German craftsmanship. It serves equally well as a decorative centrepiece or a collector’s object representing a defining moment in European design history.

I strive to describe all items as accurately and honestly as possible, including detailed photos of the actual items for sale. However, please be aware that descriptions can be subjective. Vintage or pre-owned items often show signs of wear due to age, and while I make every effort to identify and note any significant flaws, some minor imperfections may be overlooked.
Naturally occurring manufacturer’s defects, slight surface scratching, or wear consistent with normal use may be present.
Any condition beyond typical vintage wear, such as chips, cracks, or other significant defects, will be clearly noted in the description and visible in the photos.
