Keichousaurus sp. Fossil – Triassic Period – China
An elegant fossil of Keichousaurus, a small marine reptile from the Triassic period, approximately 230 million years old. This species, characterized by its elongated body, paddle-like limbs, and distinctive tail, lived in shallow coastal and lagoon environments and is among the earliest known marine reptiles.
The specimen shows fine skeletal detail, with the skull, spine, and limbs beautifully preserved within the grey shale matrix. The fossil measures 10.9 × 2.3 cm and represents a delicate and scientifically valuable example of Triassic life.
Named after the Keichow (Guizhou) province in China, where the first discoveries were made in 1957, Keichousaurus offers an important glimpse into the early adaptation of reptiles to aquatic habitats.
A refined and genuine piece, ideal for fossil collectors or as an educational and decorative natural history specimen.
