古代埃及,新帝國 Faience 乌龟护身符
An Egyptian amulet carved in faience in the shape of a turtle, a common animal in Ancient Egypt. The reverse in flat and unadorned. The amulet has been perforated longitudinally for suspension. Minor chip to the head.
The Egyptians wore amulets alongside other pieces of jewellery. They were decorative, but also served a practical purpose, being considered to bestow power and protection upon the wearer. Many of the amulets have been found inside the wrappings of mummies, as they were used to prepare the deceased for the afterlife.
Length: 1.2cm
Provenance: Ex. early 20th century UK collection
