This meticulously crafted Takaoka copper incense burner is a faithful reproduction of the esteemed work by Murata Seimin, a master metalworker from the late Edo period. The piece is a testament to the rich history of Takaoka copperware, a craft that flourished under the patronage of the Maeda clan since 1611.

This incense burner features an ovoid body exquisitely detailed with embossed dragons swirling amidst clouds — symbols of power and wisdom in traditional Japanese lore. The surface is intricately patterned, showcasing the distinguished Takaoka tradition of lost-wax casting.

Atop the lid sits a tranquil Chinese scholar, engrossed in a book, serving as a finial — a nod to the cultural exchange between Japan and China. The burner rests on three gracefully curved legs, each adorned with volute motifs, enhancing its stately presence.
