Duesenberg Starplayer TV Hollow Body Vintage Burst
Rare instrument, currently out of production. It is a full hollow version of the better known semi-hollow Starplayer. Following the essential elements of the Starplayer TV series, this version has an arched spruce top, flame maple sides, and an arched birdseye maple back. Being full-hollow, with its own voice, unlike the more widespread semi-hollow it is equipped with two Domino P90 pickups, open and reactive, which best enhance the unique tone of the wood of this instrument. To minimize feedback, the guitar features a Duesenberg-designed “Y”-shaped component inside the body that supports the bridge and connects the top and back of the guitar. This type of construction makes it more resistant to feedback than other instruments in the category, while maintaining the natural, distinct tone of a completely hollow instrument. It has a very comfortable D-profile maple neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard, 12'' radius, 25.5" scale (Fender scale), 22 jumbo frets, double action truss rod. The tuners are Z-Tuner, those with the Duesenberg system in which the string is inserted through the hollow rod to be cut on the back, so the pointed end of the string is hidden and the string requires a few turns while remaining well stabilized. The bridge is the Duesenberg steel saddle bridge. The Duesenberg trapeze tailpiece. This instrument, as per my set-up, uses DR Pure Blues 11/50 strings, has a very low action and is very soft to play. The condition of the instrument is excellent. It includes the original case, accompanying certificates and its keys.
