I love hearing about other people's passions and seeing them nerd out about their collections.

Like many American youngsters at the time, Toby began playing video games in the 1980s. A decade of button bashing later, he started collecting gaming nostalgia, setting himself a goal to acquire every video game and console from the 1970s to mid-1980s. Together with like-minded friends he’d met at game events around the country, they started The Portland Retro Gaming Expo in 2006, which has since become one of the largest video game conventions in the United States.  Toby’s affinity with collecting is a family affair. Since the age of 10, he’s worked at Coin Corner & Hobbies: an antiques and collectables store his grandparents started in 1962, focused on vintage toys. He now co-owns this family business with his sister. Add to this the 100+ pop culture events he visited over the past 30 years, plus his passionate personal collection of video games, toys, comics, records, trading cards and pop culture memorabilia — and Toby is a certified final boss of gaming and toys knowledge.  Meet Toby in the Toys category, where he curates exciting auctions and supports buyers and sellers to value and exchange their thrilling nostalgic finds.
