In Chinese, there's a saying: “When one's belly is filled with nice food, other desires arise.” I’m always finding new aspects of jewellery to discover and study.
Throughout her life, Chumeng Weng has approached jewellery from many angles — both literally and figuratively. As a jewellery designer and maker, she learned how to create brilliant pieces and build a brand. As a technician, she studied meticulous mechanisms and techniques. As an illustrator, she renders the beauty of gemstones with brushes and paint. She now brings this multi-faceted expertise to Catawiki. After completing an intensive two-year goldsmith course in Canada, Chumeng moved to Florence, Italy, to obtain her Master’s in Contemporary Jewellery Design. Soon after graduating, she moved to The Netherlands to work as studio assistant for an independent jeweller, followed by additional experience at jewellers and galleries in Milan. After honing her knowledge of metals and gemstones, she now also specialises in pearls. Thanks to this combination of critical thinking and hands-on craftsmanship, Chumeng is able to provide unique guidance to buyers and sellers concerning quality, price points, market trends and more.
