I started collecting meteorites as a kid, so I could hold a piece of outer space in the palm of my hand.
Francesco grew up fascinated by astronomy and all things natural history. When he started building his personal collection of meteorites 20 years ago, his enthusiasm for outer space quickly escalated from a passionate hobby to being the North Star of his career. Over the past two decades, Francesco attended countless mineral shows across Europe – building solid relationships with the world’s prominent meteorite dealers. When at home, he spends his time cutting, restoring and preparing meteorite samples. He’s also worked as an educator and later technical-scientific curator at a natural history museum in his home country, Italy, where he oversaw the setting up of two planetariums and an astronomical observatory. At Catawiki, Francesco is dedicated to growing the Meteorites auction by organising enticing auctions while guiding buyers and sellers through the process. The most challenging part? Not bidding on every piece that would make a splendid addition to his personal collection.
