Nicolas’ first great passion was history. He saw it as a way to find answers to age-old questions about life and the way we live. It’s no great surprise that when he discovered whisky at the early age of 18, Nicolas would fall in love with the rich and storied liquor. In pursuit of learning as much as possible about his new passion, Nicolas has travelled to distilleries around the world, including an impressive number of Scottish distilleries. Working at one of the largest whisky bars in Geneva, helping customers navigate the 500+ whiskies available, was also a valuable experience. It wasn’t long before Nicolas was well known and respected in the small world of whisky connoisseurs and in 2017, he began working for a leading online whisky auction house. In June 2020, Nicolas brought his wealth of knowledge and experience to Catawiki. He quickly experienced a career highlight when he was asked to value and auction an incredibly rare Chartreuse Yellow with a spring cap. Nicolas is doubly excited to be part of the Catawiki team as he can also indulge his other great love, collecting old books.
