Shipping & Delivery
What if my package is held at customs?

Orders going through customs might be held temporarily. Don’t worry, the large majority of objects arrive without any problem, but sometimes further documentation or charges might be necessary.

1. Watch for communication from customs
Customs authorities may contact you or the shipping company. They might request additional documents, such as proof of value or ID, or payment of import duties and VAT.

2. Provide what’s needed
Respond promptly with any requested documents — for example, your invoice, ID number, or proof of payment.

If you’re unsure what’s needed, contact the shipping company using your tracking code.

3. Pay any import fees
As the buyer, you’re responsible for paying any customs fees, VAT, or handling charges. These are not included in your Catawiki payment unless otherwise stated.

4. Avoid delays
If you don’t respond or pay the required fees, the package may be returned to the seller. If that happens, you’ll need to pay for reshipping.

How to prevent customs issues in the future

  • Double-check that your shipping address is correct and complete.
  • Keep an eye on your email or phone for messages from customs or the shipping company.
  • Provide your ID or tax number if requested by the seller for customs documentation.
