We use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance user experience, improve platform safety, and support our internal operational processes. AI is integrated into several processes, some of which directly interact with users, while others assist our teams in reviewing information, prioritising cases, drafting communications, and analysing patterns. AI may be used both in direct user-facing interactions and to provide internal decision support to help scale our expertise across the business. We follow strict internal policies to ensure AI is used responsibly, whether through machine-learning algorithms or large language models. 

Our AI implementations align with ethical and legal guidelines, including transparency requirements under the Digital Services Act (DSA). AI does not make final decisions that could significantly impact users without human oversight, where required. Our service providers are contractually prohibited from using our data – including user data – to train public models.

I am a (potential) Buyer

We use AI to help personalise your experience and improve how we show you relevant content. For example, AI may help tailor your feed or search results, generate estimated prices based on previous sales, or summarise object listings.

AI-generated summaries or enhancements are for convenience only and may contain inaccuracies. Always carefully review the full object description, object specifics, and photos before placing a bid. These remain the most reliable sources of information about the object.


Here are some examples of how we use AI to support the buyer experience:

  • Personalisation: Tailoring your ‘For You’ feed and search results based on your interests.

  • Pricing: Providing estimated price ranges based on historical sales data.

  • Content: Enhancing object descriptions and providing summaries for convenience.

  • Risk Assessment: Assessing transactional risks to help prevent fraud, money laundering (AML), and other platform abuses across all transactions and interactions.

  • Support & Analysis: Powering customer service chatbots and automated menus. AI also assists our internal teams in analysing support cases, complaints, and escalations to provide more consistent and timely responses.

  • Communication: Improving efficiency through AI-assisted email enhancements and translations.




I am a (potential) Seller

We use AI to support you during the listing process, and to help our teams manage seller performance and communications. While AI tools help you submit listings faster, you remain responsible for ensuring all object details are accurate. 

Here are some examples of how we use AI to support the seller experience:

  • Listing Support: Enhancing images and suggesting titles or descriptions. You must review and approve all AI-generated content before publication.

  • Auction Insights: Analysing data to suggest Reserve and Buy Now pricing.

  • Performance & Communications: Assisting internal teams with seller research, analysing performance, and preparing seller-facing summaries or support materials.

  • Dispute & Escalation Support: Supporting internal teams in handling seller-related questions, objections, complaints, or escalations to ensure fair and efficient resolution.

  • Customer Service: Powering AI-assisted answers and automated phone systems. AI-generated responses do not always receive human review.

If any AI content in respect of your objects is shown on the object page (such as buyer-facing summaries) or elsewhere, you are not responsible for that content unless you had a chance to review and approve it. You remain responsible for the quality and veracity of any AI enhanced or generated images that you submit yourself for your listings.




I am a Service Provider

We use AI tools to support business operations and manage our professional relationships, including:

  • Operational Efficiency: Summarising internal communications, emails, or meeting notes.

  • Legal & Compliance: Contract analysis, legal document review, and policy-based support for internal legal, triage, and compliance workflows.

  • Relationship Management: Risk or compliance assessment support in relation to supplier or service-provider relationships and AI-assisted negotiation support.




I am a Job Applicant

AI may assist in recruitment processes to ensure efficiency and consistency, including:

  • Interviews: Providing structured interview recordings and AI-generated summaries.

  • Process Support: Assisting recruitment teams in preparing interview materials, job descriptions, or structuring candidate evaluations.

  • Opt-out: You can request to disable AI-assisted recording features at any time.
